Bess, a feisty trailer park teen, steals a car and drives from Kansas to Las Vegas in search of her estranged father. Her 9-year-old neighbor, Waldo, rides in shotgun for this cross country adventure where the two encounter an array of lost souls, dead beats and con men. With Kansas Child Services on their heels, Bess and Waldo discover family can be found in oddest of places.
